If you were initiated into E-8, you are
an E-8 Brother for life!
REMEMBER! Anything after
initiations is history. You only share what you want to. Please try to join us
at a future reunion.
Dear E8 Brother,
2012 Reunion comments:
Marilyn Waxman: “I came to the reunion not knowing
anyone but having heard a lot about E-8. When I left I felt I had been at a
family reunion, and now I was one of the family. I am really looking forward to
seeing all my new friends next year”.
Rick: Marilyn commented after the theater:
Everyone gathered in the hotel and the friendship and love demonstrated in the
room was overwhelming. Especially when the brothers from the ‘40s, 50s, 60s
& 70s celebrated as one.
MG Ret Don Jacka (G-7): “What a
warm reception you extended to Jan and me!
Your hospitality was greatly appreciated and the
camaraderie was very welcoming. Jan and I were able to make so many new
friends”.
The common background of Pershing Rifles is so strong
that it easily bridged the cultural and era gap…members of E-8 were our
brothers before we met and upon meeting you, our shared commonality galvanized
that relationship.
Commemorative
E-8 Challenge Coin:
When you see one and hold one in your hand you are
holding a piece of nostalgia. Many of the brothers have made their donations
and received their coin(s).
Comments after getting the coin:
Tony Bianco ‘64: The coin is a piece of art.
Greg Sarno ’56: I will place the coin alongside my other
Army coin.
Steve Cocheo ’52: I am delighted that I have been given a
legacy embodied by the E-8Challenge Coin. It states…that I served my country
well and will be remembered by my Character, Integrity, Brotherhood and Patriotism.
Herb Lash ‘56: The
coins look terrific. Especially the date 1959
on the coins. It was my last year I was on the drill team.
Barry Becker ’61: The coins are more fantastic than the
description! Wow..a lifetime memory in my hands. A true keepsake and memento to pass on to my
kids.
GEN Colin L Powell Former A-8 CO: Thanks for the
handsome coin. Fond memory of the old days

NEWS:
Bill Flanz: Has been living overseas since 1973.
After getting his BA at NYU, he got an MBA at The University of Michigan, spent
19 years at Chase Bank. In 1986 he went into private equity where he has been
most of the time since. He has lived in Japan, Greece, Italy, UK & Hong
Kong, where has been for 26 of the last 32 years. His “15 minutes of fame” came
when he was Chairman & CEO at Gucci as part of a private equity
turn-around.
He and wife Janet have four children from their
previous marriages, celebrating their 31 st anniversary. Two live in London,
two in the US.
His father (95) and mother (92) are “still hanging in
there” in NY.
As a member of a business group, “The Aspen Group”,
interested in evaluating world conditions, he was impressed with the
professionalism of today’s US Air Force after a meeting in Colorado Springs.
Frank Draskovic: Living in CA, still working, but
slower than years ago. Has various collections, like coins that he is starting
to sell.
Current interest is USA and world military medals.
Latest find: an attributed 1900 Boxer Rebellion Army China Medal; given to an
American US Army Signal Corps soldier, later killed on an army base in Texas. Frank
loves the research in validating. He
also plans a series of articles for the ANA magazine about military medals
struck at the US Mint.
Roger Faulkner: Lives in Colorado Springs and had to
evacuate due to the fires. Returned home to find all was OK.
Lyndsey &Nicky Turner: Did not have
any damages from the earthquakes in Italy.
Hal Haith: According to his wife, Pat, Hal passed
away.
Black E-8 Shirts: I’ve been asked for shirts and checked. I
can get more at a cost of $ 15.00 plus shipping, additional cost of $ 2.00 each
for size 2XL or larger, with a minimum consolidated order of 12. If you want
one or more, let me know.
If we exceed the minimum amount I will place the order
and request the money from you.
