Dear P/R E-8
Brotherhood:
Would you like to relive those wonderful days and memories of
our time at NYU at University Heights? Well here it is, your opportunity to do
just that! We have arranged for you and your family to come and see where you
went to University. A mini reunion luncheon with cocktail hour and tour of our
old campus is planned for Sunday December 2nd, 2012
We start with an 11:00am cocktail hour and “reunioning.” Then
a 12 noon catered buffet luncheon on the second floor of the Gould Student
Center overlooking Ohio Field. A tour of the campus will follow the luncheon
and then back to the student center, now called Rocco-Brown Student Center by Bronx
Community College/CUNY.
The campus as we remember it is still basically the same with
some additions. At the main entrance, in
place of “State,” BCC has built a magnificent new library. The building is
based on the famous architect Stanford White’s designs who did many of the
original buildings on campus. They have also maintained “The Quad.” The Quad
area, which you know, is an open area fronting the Gould Memorial Library with
old fashioned street lights and matured trees and beautiful benches. Having
recently visited our old Alma Mater with Tony Bianco and Harvey Gordon, I was
choked up with emotion, remembrances and nostalgia of the beautiful campus and
my brotherhood of Pershing Rifles Company E-8 NYU.
Finally, to help us
plan space requirements for this magnificent event in “Celebration of 65 Years
of Excellence” we need a head count for planning purposes ASAP. Please
RSVP to Tony Bianco at tony0733@aol.com by
7/21/12 to let him know if you plan to attend and with how many guests. We will follow with further information
including a menu and costs which we are planning at this point. Don’t miss this
opportunity to visit Gould Hall, Loew Hall, New Hall, Patterson, Nichols,
Language, Gould Memorial Library, Philosophy, McCracken, Sage, Bliss, etc. Now
that your eyes are moist with nostalgia, send that email to Tony that you plan
to attend. Let’s make this the biggest turnout for a December luncheon ever!
In Brotherhood,
Dan Mambrino
